We got up and hung around Kent's for a little while in the morning. His son, Stuart, came up and gave me the picture you see below. An excellent job, especially for a 10 year-old, and I love the pirate sneer I have!
While surfing online this morning, we discovered that somebody had made another fan video of "The Elephant Song", this time using the style and graphics of Second Life. The video is embedded below. A while ago, somebody had done a funny World of Warcraft version, which is here.
We went over to the library where I have a show on Saturday. Checking out a venue ahead of time isn't often a luxury I have, but since we're in town a few days early and it wasn't too far, we thought it would be a good idea. It's often helpful to know ahead of time if there might be a parking issue for the RV or some other set up situation that might need to be addressed, but everything looks alright. We stayed for the storytime and were met by Roseann's niece, Larissa, and three of her four kids. They live in nearby Mesa. From the library, we all went over to the mall where they had a nice play area.
As we were walking into the mall, we noticed a mall security car and some ladies hovering around a vehicle. As we approached, we saw one of the ladies trying in vain to get into her car through a back window that was open. Apparently, she had locked her keys in the car. Roseann suggested that Becca give it a try and she was able to climb in and open the locked door. One of the ladies told me that right before we got there, they said, "We need a five year-old to do this!" They gave Becca a $5 reward and Becca did an "I've got $5!" celebration song and dance the whole way into the mall. She'll share that with Evee, of course, as Evee would have climbed in as well, though it would have taken a little longer to explain to her how to open the door. The kids all played in the mall for a while as we talked and took pictures, then I went out to the bus and had a nap for a little while.
We went back to Kent's and went swimming. Tiggy got some outdoor time in the back yard and Roseann helped Kent reshape the panel of a dented car so a new turn signal fixture would fit. After dinner, Roseann and I played two games of Pandemic with Kent's son, Orson, and one of the teenage girls that frequents their house. Pandemic is a really cool board game where you all work together to try to cure four diseases which are spreading around the world. You're not playing against each other like in most games, but you're essentially playing against the game itself. Yeah, the theme is a lot darker than say, Candyland, but it's a great problem solving situation and a fun challenge. Unfortunately, after having what seemed like a great start in the first game, the diseases quickly came back to win big after several outbreaks. But in the second game we were able to cure them all in time and be the heroes of humanity. Nobody gave us $5, though...
