Evee woke up early and had to puke. She was pretty sick all day with a fever and mostly slept. She couldn't keep anything down at first, so we fed her freezie pops to keep her hydrated and traded off giving her Tylenol and Motrin. It makes me sad to see when one of my super fun-loving and energetically active girls is acting so much unlike themselves when they're sick.
We went to a McDonald's to meet with Miciah, a guy from the area who had contacted me recently about potentially working together in some respect. We really like him and he has a good record working with area youth theater, so I think there are some great possibilities there. We brought Evee in to lay down with her pillow and blanket, and she slept through the whole meeting. Becca went to the Playland, but there were no other kids there. She came over to us at one point and said she was very lonely and missed playing with Evee. Finally, a few kids showed up, and one three year-old boy played with her for a while, but the other kids sat with their family and ate.
Evee seemed to feel a little bit better after that, and she and Becca played together a bit in the bus while I went in to a store for some groceries and more medicine. But Evee's energy didn't last too long and she ended up going to bed very early, getting up only briefly for freezie pops, medicine and a bedtime story and song. So Becca spent a lot of time playing on her LeapPad. Those things are really great... It's like a book where you touch pictures and words to hear things and play games and otherwise interact, and our girls really love them and learn quite a lot from them. There are a lot of different books available with some of their favorite media entities like Dr. Seuss, Pixar, Spongebob, etc., and they also make books specifically for the LeapPad featuring a frog named Leap in a bunch of different learning programs, which our girls enjoy as well, especially Becca. We've had two versions, the regular Leappad and the My First Leappad, which our girls both enjoyed at first but which they grew out of pretty quickly. If you've got kids, I recommend checking out the LeapPads if you haven't already, especially for a traveling situation... they can definitely keep Evee and Becca occupied for a good while when we're driving, and they can also use headphones with them, which is nice if we're desperate for a nap and they still want to play with something. (This was not a paid endorsement, btw... I just think it's a genuinely great product worth sharing about.)
We drove out to an RV park in Mesa to stay for the night. Kent has graciously offered for us to stay in front of his house and plug in there as long as we need to, but the power needs of our RV when it's hot out (it's in the 90's here) are sometimes a bit much for the 15 amp circuits that most houses have. We can have the AC on, or the fridge, or the laptop, or the microwave, or the hair dryer or whatever, but not usually more than one of those things at any given time with that amperage without having to constantly flip the circuit breaker back on. In this heat, the AC has to always take precedence, and so every few days at least we really need to get somewhere with 30 amps to make sure the battery stays charged and our food stays cold, etc. We'll likely trade off between staying at Kent's, an RV park, and possibly with some family in the area for the rest of our time here in the Phoenix area.
We washed the bus when we got to the RV park. It had some road grime and a lot of bugs on it, and it seemed very grateful for the bath. The wifi isn't connecting right here so this will get posted sometime tomorrow. (I always change the time of the post to reflect the general time it was written or when we went to bed if it doesn't end up being posted at the actual time.) We watched House, American Idol and Back to You, then Roseann watched The Pursuit of Happyness (sic)... she had really wanted to see that again since we mentioned it recently. I got up really early with Ev, so I was pretty wiped out and went to sleep early.
