Evee was still feeling pretty pukey this morning. We decided to take her to the hospital right after my show. I had a show at the Sunset Library in Chandler and it went really well. A nice crowd and a good vibe throughout. Miciah came with his wife and son, Eric, who was really cute and kept offering me his little Kermit doll throughout the show. We didn't want Evee around other kids for the whole show, so she stayed on a couch in the librarian's lounge, with Roseann watching her. At one point, though, she said to Roseann, "I need to go to the concert for one song to sing with Daddy." Roseann said, "I don't think you're ready to do that, sweetheart." But Evee insisted. What a trooper! As bad as she was feeling, she still felt the show must go on. She didn't sing very much... she was still pretty dazed... but I was thrilled to have her come out and join me.
When we had left to go to the show, we had heard a scraping sound on the back of the bus, and a bit of a tug. I figured we had just scraped along the tree near where we were parked, which is hard to avoid sometimes when driving or trying to park near trees. I didn't think much of it, but later when Roseann went back to the bus during the concert to get something for Evee, she noticed a very large tree branch stuck inside the ladder on the back of our bus, up near the top. She described it as if the bus were trying very feebly to hide behind a bush. We told Kent what had happened and he said not to worry, as he was supposed to trim that tree, anyway. So we did him a favor. But the way Kent is, I imagine that someone could accidentally crash a tank right into his living room and he would say, "Ah, no problem... We were thinking of remodeling, anyway."
After the show we took Evee to the hospital and she was very gracious as doctors poked and prodded her. She seemed to be feeling a lot better at that point, but based on times the last couple days when she seemed better but then got sick again, we couldn't necessarily take that as a good sign. They gave her an IV drip and took some blood and a throat swab. Everything looked fine about her blood work and they couldn't find anything else wrong, other than her being dehydrated and having low blood sugar from not being able to keep anything down the past two days. We suspected that was the case, which is why we wanted to get her in for an IV drip, regardless of whether she might be getting over whatever virus she probably had. She got irritable after a while from the waiting (we were there for about five hours, altogether) and the cramped quarters (which consisted of a curtain and chair), and was very happy to leave.
Becca and I went out to the bus for a while during that stretch to give Evee more room. On our way out of the bus to go back in the hospital, I turned off the AC... When that happens, the AC unit on the roof spits out its excess water, and as Becca walked out the door she got drenched with it. It was pretty funny... Becca says it was kinda like a shower. Then Roseann and I traded and she and Becca went out for a while. A guy walked by the bus as they were going into it and stopped to ask what that was all about. Turns out his name was Eric Herman, too, and like me, it was his first and middle name.
We went to Kent's and had some yummy Godfather's pizza for dinner, then we played Pandemic again with Kent (the diseases barely beat us) and went to bed.
At the Sunset Library (with Eric offering me his Kermit again)...
