2008 Spring/Summer Tour - Day 67

We had a really good breakfast of eggs and bacon on our new griddle, which the girls got for me as an early birthday/Father's Day present (there really isn't room in the motorhome to "hide" a present like that, so they just gave it to me ahead of time). It'll be nice to be able to make pancakes and grilled cheese sandwiches (the girls call them "girl cheese sandwiches") and other things that we like to eat but haven't been able to since we've avoided getting any propane this trip (which is needed to use the stove in the bus).

We got ready for church and drove over to the building, only to find the whole parking lot (which included a temple) jam packed with cars. We figured it must have been a Stake Conference, which happens twice a year, though not on the same week for every area (so we wouldn't have known for sure that it was going on there this week). So we thought we were actually early for regular services at 11:30 but conference started at 9:30, so we ended up being there only in time to hear the very last speaker. But it turned out to be one of the Twelve Apostles, D. Todd Christofferson, so that was a pretty big deal. We met him afterwards and Roseann stayed to talk with him for a while. The girls and I went to the bus for lunch and called Aunt Karen, who we're going to see in Colorado next month.

We went back to the RV park and had naps and then watched some of our home movie DVDs together. I've said before how I regret not keeping a journal like this for years past, but I have taken a good amount of video footage (more so than this year), so that's good. We all laughed at the silly things the girls have done (Becca dancing to "Sir Duke" and the girls playing their toy instruments and yelling "Rock and roll!" are particular howlers for me... we might have to share some clips from that here at some point) and were amazed at how much they've grown, in all respects. Watching videos like that makes me feel so grateful for the family I've been blessed with and all that we share. I mean, I feel that way every day, but somehow sitting back and watching home movies like that which cover a broad timeframe gives you a kind of appreciative perspective that's even deeper.

After watching the home movies, we had dinner and played on our computers for a while, then went to bed.
